[ts-gen] shim-070208.tgz testing on Debian

As we had an inquiry today, I fired off the self-test 
on the Quantian box -- In testing on my Debian box, I see a 
temporary bit of breakage -- As we have not had an external 
tester report in for a while, I had dropped Debian from my 
testing.

We'll address as the patch looks straightforward, but we have 
been focussed in ohter areas.  It may be early next week. 
The ./attic/ has other versions to try if one cannot wait.
