[ts-gen] segmentation faults

Yes the amd64 seems to run the latest shim ok, where previously there
was a segmentation fault at the same point that Nils reported (albeit
gdb output differed).  

I've also just tried the latest shim (080820) on a 32 bit machine running
debian testing and found no problems yet (tried 'select tick..', exs/risk.rb, exs/cash).
i686 GNU/Linux 2.6.25-2-686  ;   g++ (Debian 4.3.1-2) 4.3.1   ;  mysql: 5.0.51a-12
Although that's with the TWS and mysql server running on a different
machine (the amd64) - in case that matters.
