don't think of it as 'crud' so much as backward support, and 
accretive development ["Want a new feature: no problem -- slap 
another layer in there and bump the version"] ;)

chuckle ... to each their own poison  ;)  I assume IB 
development staff use some GUI tool such as eclipse to manage 
this.  The clarity of a TUI development environment is to 
others the bane of typing all the time.
